ace-aro people can see any kind of character as ace-aro without it being an issue. a non-empathetic character, a super bouncy fun loving character, a character who hates people and would rather sit at home with their cats. if you see yourself in a character you’re allowed to see them with aspects of your identity; if you write a character you’re allowed to form them anyway you like. this is true of any marginalized group tbh.
the problem is when people who’re a different identity only headcanon/write the same kind of characters with these identities, often falling into stereotypes and assumptions. and if you can only view characters with certain traits or lifestyles as being a certain identity, that shows a prejudice you have about people of that identity.
i think we should definitely criticize people for their stereotyping headcanons and designs, but there’s no need to criticize people who are just trying to reflect their own selves. they feel enough criticism from the lack of seeing themselves anywhere else
i’ve always had a criminal minds headcanon that (in my bubble of denial where elle stayed on) jack discovered elle had never really watched any disney films so he gives her a different disney dvd weekly to watch and her favorite turns out to be the incredibles and after watching it she starts calling jack, jack-jack attack~
adapt canon. twist canon. pick up the story and drop it in another place, another time. rethink gender, sexuality, race. cut open a little hole in another universe and push the story inside. retcon the ending, switch up the genre, make it tragic, make it happily-ever-after. knock the characters out of moral alignment. debunk stereotypes, subvert tropes. kidnap and liberate the story from oppressors.
it’s seriously disgusting that people are so onto the leaked nudes like dude, bros, really??? do you know you can get FREE NAKED WOMEN PORN in the internet that doesn’t consist of gross assholes stealing pics from celebrities?
how much those these dickheads enjoy feeling power over women that the only nudes that are arousing are those gotten against the female’s volition wow think about it
Something just occurred to me.
When I told my friends that I’d lost my virginity with a girl years ago, I had to listen to months of, “But that doesn’t count, lesbian sex isn’t like real sex. When are you going to lose your real virginity with a guy already?”
It literally just hit me that not only is this homophobic, it’s rooted in sexism; apparently nothing counts as real, especially sex, unless a man is involved.
